Hello Kindred Spirit:
I’m Diana Oh and I very much believe in holistic activism and being able to teach my processes allows me to put this into practice. My ethos for what I can offer as an educator is to focus on a method of learning and discovering that takes care of the Artist’s soul first. I describe myself as an Open Channel to the Art that Feels Good to My Body. Driven most by pleasure, mutual care and keeping things heart-centered, I identify as a truth teller and truth seeker in all forms of art. My calling whether in an Artistic, Educational, or rudimentary setting is to queer the process, to queer the world, and to joyfully celebrate queer, trans, and non-binary humans and people of color with integrity. And to get Allies in on the fun of it. As an Artist, my work has been featured on The Huffington Post, People Magazine, MTV, npr, Vice, Refinery 29, The New York Times, Vulture, The National, at the Institute of Contemporary Art, The Boston Public Library, The Harvard Arboretum, Theatres around the country and Unexpected places in the streets. I have been interviewed on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange about why Catcalling Sucks.
I am comfortable inventing the boxes in which we contain ourselves, as I identify as a Creator of performance, music, concert, ritual, party, gatherings, documentary film projects, healings, manifestos, meditations, and speeches. I am also a Singer, Songwriter, Actor, and Performance Artist. I have taught masterclasses and delivered Key Notes for the TOW Foundation, The Public Theatre, The Sundance Institute, Harvard University, Syracuse University, Emerson, Harvard University, Columbia University, SUNY Purchase, The Museum of Fine Arts, Smith College, The Wooster Group, Terry Knickerbocker Acting Studios, Developing Artists, TCG, A3 Artists Agency, Company One, and The Shakespeare Academy at Stratford. They are a Sundance Institute Fellow, a TOW Fellow, NY Community Trust Helen Merrill Award Recipient, Art Equity Fellow, and a Steinberg Award Recipient.
I am the Creator and Performer of {my lingerie play}: 10 Underground Performance Installations in my lingerie staged in an effort to provide a safer and more courageous world for Queer, Trans, Non-binary, and Femmes to Live in that culminates into a rock & soul concert of Oh’s original music, The Gift Project: A Documentary Film Interview Series and Culminating Live Concert that centers Elders of Marginalized Experience and Identity with songs written for them as Gifts, The Infinite Love Party: an intentional barefoot potluck dinner, dance party, and sleepover for Queer, Trans, BiPOC and Their Allies, Clairvoyance: A installation and concert series in Boston centering and celebrating Queer Magic, My H8 Letter to the Gr8 American Theatre: a play (The Public Theater, Ma-Yi Theatre), 24 Hour Punk (Oh and their Collaborator Matt Park park in a sacred space overnight and write music in 24 hours, by the time the 24 hours is up, they perform a full blown punk-rock concert with a full band). I am also a member of the Brooklyn-based Party Rock Band THE U.S. OPEN. (with Jeff Biehl, Steve Boyer, William Jackson Harper, Bobby Moreno, and Shawn Randall).
My greatest joy is being able to Empower Embodied Truth.
